Event open to all Chippendale built boats to compete in Fareham Creek over three races to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Jack Chippendale and a chance to meet some of the people who built the dinghies at the Fareham boat yard.

Fareham Sailing & Motor Boat Club - Saturday 11th May 2024
1) Rules
1.1 The racing will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing
1.2 Competitors should note that Fareham Sailing Club implicates the RYA Racing Charter
and that they will be expected to sail in compliance with it.

2) Communication & Sailing instructions
2.1 All documents governing this event, including the sailing instructions, will be available from
the Fareham Sailing Club at Lower Quay, Fareham, Hants PO16 ORA
3) Eligibility & Entry
3.1 The event is open to all original Chippendale built boats.
3.2 Boats may enter by registering on line - entry is free
3.3 Online entry will close on 1st May 2024, late entries may be accepted at the discretion of
the organising authority.
3.4 Competitors under 18 years shall submit a signed Parent/Guardian Declaration on the
Entry Form
4) Fees
4.1 Entry is free.
5) Schedule
5.1 Registration Saturday 11th May 2024 from 10.30 hrs
5.2 The event will consist of a series Three Handicap Races with one discard.
5.3 The starting signal for the first race is scheduled to be at 13.00. It is expected to have one
handicap class. If there are more than 10-12 entries, the entrants may be divided into two
handicap classes, with the second class starting 5 minutes after the first handicap class.
6) Venue
6.1 This information will be available on the club website.
7) Courses
7.1 The courses to be sailed will be set by the race committee on the day see details under
Sailing Instructions
8) Prizes
8.1 Prizes will be awarded after the racing.
9) Risk Statement
9.1 RRS 3 states: 'The responsibility for the decision to participate in a race or to continue to
race will be the competitor's alone'. By participating in this event each competitor agrees and
acknowledges that sailing is a potentially dangerous activity with inherent risks. These risks
include strong winds and rough seas, sudden changes in weather, failure of equipment, boat
handling errors, poor seamanship by other boats, loss of balance on an unstable platform and
fatigue resulting in increased risk of injury. Inherent in the sport of sailing is the risk of
permanent, catastrophic injury or death by drowning, trauma, hypothermia or other causes.
10) Insurance
10.1 Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a
minimum cover of £2 million per instance or the equivalent.
